Danessa Myricks Beauty - Pastel Dream Mini Freedom Palette

Danessa Myricks Beauty - Pastel Dream Mini Freedom Palette

I missed out on the Lightworks and original Freedom palettes so, when this this mini Freedom palette launched I had to have it as soon as possible. In addition to launching on the Danessa Myricks Beauty website the first Mini Freedom palette was also sold online and in-store with Sephora.

Value Breakdown

Retail Price $48 ($8 per shadow)

This palette is a great deal for the price and quality. The Pastel Dream Mini Freedom palette offers six high quality shadows. Mattes are highly pigmented and creamy. Two of the special shades are are quite unique and dimensional. The packaging is also high quality, featuring the signature Freedom magnetic system and a palette sized mirror on the interior of the lid.

While the release of this palette was exciting, the color story was not my first choice. Keeping in mind the spirit of newness and creativity living in symbiosis with user frinedly products I eventualy came to understand why these colors were chosen. Pairing the mattes with thier corresponding special shades offer quick looks anyone can achieve. Mixing and matching the colors and finihses requires a bit more creativity and a propensity to bold style.

Swatches

Aqua Dream - My favorite shadow in the palette Aqua Dream is a perfectly bendable, high pigment teal. This color is so unique to the palette and color translates crisply from the pan with or without a white base. Aqua Dream makes for a high impact look used all over the lid, as an inner corner accent, or as a liner.

Pink Mirage - This shadow is purple. Even on my light skin which typically pulls most purples to a pink tone, this shadow is purple. Unlike Aqua Dream, Pink Mirage pulls a bit more grey in undertones. The pigment and blend ability is comparable to Aqua Dream but, the vibrancy of the color is not as saturated resulting in a somewhat muted hue.

Moondust - A milk chocolate brown Mooniest makes a great transition color when pair with either Aqua Dream or Pink Mirage. Alone it offers a smooth bendable matte finish with no fuss. This is my most used color in the Pastel Dream Mini Freedom palette.

Galaxy Crush - Green/Blue duo chrome special shade that needs to be applied with the finger. Out of the bottom row this shade is my favorite and most used. Used alone this shadow can create a foiled effect, but used as a topper will likely be more flattering.

Pink Quartz - Purple/ Yellow duo chrome special shade that needs to be applied with the finger. I found Pink Quartz to be more chunky than Galaxy Crush even though they appear to be the same formula. Larger pieces when picking up product are common and can make this shade more difficult to use. Both Pink Quarts and Galaxy crush work best when applied with the finger first then blended out with a fluffy brush.

Gilded Dream - The most disappointing shade in the palette Gilded Dream feels like a basic glitter shadow formula found in drug store products. Unlike Galaxy Crush and Pink Quartz, Gilded dream uses micro-glitters instead of the duo chrome foil. I don't find it particularly pretty and it feels like this formula was chosen to save on cost and keep the retail price under $50.
